Human-Powered Innovation at CNE 2025: Behind the Scenes with Model Products Ltd
What is CNE 2025?
The Combined Naval Event (CNE) 2025, hosted by Navy Leaders, is the UK’s premier gathering for maritime defence stakeholders. Recently held in Farnborough, this high-impact event merged three key exhibitions: Naval Damage Control, Underwater Defence & Security, and Future Surface Fleet. CNE 2025 brought together 1,500+ naval professionals, 100+ leading companies, and government representatives from NATO, AUKUS, and beyond. It acts as a crucial networking and procurement platform for advancing maritime defence innovation and collaboration.
Who Are Model Products Ltd?
We are a UK-based team of specialist model makers with a reputation for creating high-fidelity, tactile representations of concepts, technologies, and vessels. Our work seeks to bridge the gap between / design and physical reality, allowing clients to present complex ideas in engaging, tangible formats. Although we incorporate tools like 3D printing, our core strength remains rooted in meticulous human craftsmanship, real-time problem-solving, and creative intuition.

Reflecting on a Whirlwind Project
We recently completed a fast-track commission destined for a showcase at CNE 2025. The project brief landed just two weeks before delivery to a client’s stand in Farnborough, proving to be a true test of agility, teamwork, and traditional craft.
Whilst we employed a touch of 3D printing, the backbone of the delivery was old-school ingenuity: hands-on fabrication, nocturnal coffee-fuelled sprints, and a shared resolve to deliver something memorable.

Three Takeaways from the Journey
1. Creativity Isn’t a Shortcut
Rapid prototyping is a popular term, but we know that true wow-factor pieces demand thoughtful design, precision, and skilled execution. Each creation is as much about storytelling as it is about structure.
2. Interpretation Beats Automation
You can feed data into a machine, but only humans can interpret a client’s abstract goal into something visually compelling and emotionally resonant. Our ethos: intuition beats automation.
3. Relationships Are the Real Deliverable
The models aren’t just tools for display; they are conversation-starters, engagement magnets, and touchpoints. The goal isn’t just to build something impressive—it’s to connect with people.
Why Human-Powered Still Wins
While the world races toward automation and AI, Model Products Ltd proudly stays 100% human powered. Our philosophy: creativity, interpretation, and connection are fundamentally human traits. These principles are not only intact but thriving in our studio and the showcase that we delivered to our client at CNE 2025 is a reminder that human-first craftsmanship still makes the biggest impact on the exhibition floor.
